The day after exams, my sister Taylor and I hopped on a plane and headed for Los Angeles. My dad had arrived a few days earlier and the plan was to take family pictures on the beach. We moved from California in 2006 and since then there hasn't been a time where all the kids and grandchildren were together at once. Knowing we'd finally be together, my mom suggested pictures! The only catch is that I would take the pictures, as well as be in them! Thankfully my sister Vivi's husband is familiar with Canon DSLR's!
When I was growing up my parents didn't take many pictures, which I have always found very sad. I know it seems like today people are oversaturated in photos, but to me they're all like heirlooms! Each is special and documents its own uniqueness. This shoot was challenging, but is probably the last time in a long time we'll all be together. I am so grateful we were able to photograph it!
Here are the first ever Porter Family portraits featuring work from me, my brother-in-law, and my sister's and brother! All just in time for my dads 60th birthday next month! Enjoy!
